>Drug possession charge follows traffic stop
NIAGARA FALLS -- A LaSalle resident stopped for allegedly speeding Saturday night on Pierce Avenue ended up with a drug charge, police said.
Carl R. Davis, 26, who was stopped at 8:43 p.m. for reportedly driving 40 mph in a 30-mph zone, had $300 worth of marijuana in his possession, said police, who charged him with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

NEWFANE -- A Newfane man suffered smoke inhalation Sunday after flames damaged his garage on Hess Road, the Niagara County Sheriff's Department reported.
Andrew Gajkowski, 64, was treated for smoke inhalation, and his injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said.
Deputies said that when firefighters arrived at about 1 p.m., the garage at 2865 Hess was fully engulfed. Damage was estimated by officials at $50,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents, including two vehicles. A cause has yet to be determined.

NIAGARA FALLS -- A former crack cocaine addict told police he had been robbed Friday night by three dealers with whom he previously had done business.
The victim said the three, who claimed he owed them money, forced their way into his Ninth Street apartment at about 9:30 p.m. One held a handgun to the man's face, and another punched him in the face, police said.
The three threatened to return and kill him if he didn't pay off all the debts within 24 hours. They also made off with Christmas presents, video games and the victim's wallet before fleeing, police said.
