Matthew E. Gullen, a former treatment team leader at the Western New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office, died Friday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a long illness. He was 63.
The Buffalo native earned a bachelor's degree in exceptional education and a master's degree in educational psychology from Buffalo State College.
Mr. Gullen worked at West Seneca Developmental Center for many years, retiring in 2000. He previously served as as a recreation therapist.
He was a former local president of the Office of Management Confidential Employees.
Mr. Gullen was a Buffalo Bills fan and attended all four of the team's Super Bowl appearances. He was a season ticket holder for more than 30 years.
He was also a Hospice volunteer and a physical fitness enthusiast.
Survivors include his wife, the former Constance S. Michalak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday in Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 4220 Seneca Street, West Seneca. Prayers will be said at 9:45 in Hoy Funeral Home, 3855 Seneca St., West Seneca. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lackawanna.
