Daisy Ruth Leatherwood, a retired home care aide, died Wednesday in her Buffalo home after a short illness. She was 67.
Born Daisy Coleman in Cherokee, N.C., she was a graduate of Camp High School in Shelby, N.C. She also attended college in Barber-Scotia College in Concord, N.C.
Mrs. Leatherwood worked privately in home care, and retired in 2004 after a 20-year career. She also worked as a custodian for Key Bank and Goldome Bank.
A Pentecostal, Mrs. Leatherwood was a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Thomas E. of Buffalo; two daughters, Zina Lee and Venique Herndon, both of Buffalo; four sons, Ondray Pleasant and Nelson Pleasant, both of Buffalo, George H. Salter Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., and Thomas E. Jr. of Syracuse; one sister, Mary Coleman, and one brother, Willie Coleman, both of Shelby; 14 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral will be held at noon Tuesday in McCoy Convention Center, 653 Clinton St., following a wake at 11. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
