In 1773, the Boston Tea Party took place as American colonists boarded a British ship and dumped more than 300 chests of tea overboard to protest tea taxes. . . . In 1916, Gregory Rasputin, the monk who held powerful influence over the Russian court, was killed by a group of noblemen. They shot him, poisoned him and submerged him in icy water before he died. . . . In 1944, the World War II Battle of the Bulge began as German forces launched a surprise counterattack against Allied forces in Belgium. . . .

Rossi, a retired history teacher, will be signing and discussing his popular books between 6 and 8 p.m. today at Borders Express (formerly Waldenbooks) at Eastern Hills Mall, 4545 Transit Road, Williamsville; from 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday at the Boulevard Mall, Niagara Falls Boulevard and Maple Road, Amherst; and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Waldenbooks at the McKinley Mall. . . .


DOES BASIC -- Airman Joseph C. Rammacher, a 2005 graduate of West Seneca West Senior High School, has completed six weeks of basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

His parents are Keith Rammacher and Kathaleen Jacobsen of West Seneca. . . .
