John H. Small, a retired autoworker, died unexpectedly Tuesday in his home here. He was 88.
Born in Irving, Mr. Small was an automation equipment maker at Ford Motor Co.'s Buffalo Stamping Plant in Hamburg. He retired after a 30-year career.
He was a member of Versailles United Methodist Church and had been a member of Gowanda Free Methodist Church.
Mr. Small, who played guitar, entertained residents of area nursing homes, where he also was a volunteer.
His wife of 69 years, Hazel Cook Small, died in February.
Surviving are two daughters, Carol Best of McKinney, Texas, and Coral Dye of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a son, Thomas of Forestville; a sister, Betty Raczka of
Angola; two brothers, David of Collins and Willis Paul of Irving; 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Riles & Woolley Funeral Home, 39 Main St. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
