William Bason, a retired machine operator, died Thursday in his Buffalo home after a brief illness. He was 78.
Mr. Bason was born in Mobile, Ala., and moved to Buffalo in 1959.
He was a machine operator for Bliss & Laughlin Steel Corp. of Buffalo.
Mr. Bason served as a military policeman during World War II from 1943 to 1946.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne of Alabama and Darren Johnson of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Cynthia of New Jersey and Beverly of Alabama; a stepdaughter, Della Johnson of Buffalo; a stepson, Robert Johnson of Buffalo; and many grandchildren.
Services were today in Thomas T. Edward Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
