Thomas T. Lawrie, a Union Carbide millwright for many years, died Thursday in his home in Pelion, S.C., after a lengthy illness. He was 78.
Mr. Lawrie was born in Niagara Falls, attended area schools and was a graduate of Trott Vocational High School. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Mr. Lawrie retired in 1985 from Union Carbide Corp.
He also had lived in Youngstown.
His wife, Mildred Lavallee Lawrie, died in 1975.
Survivors include four daughters, Linda Reynolds of Youngstown, Dorothy McGee of West Columbia, S.C., and Jo Anne Gardner and Marguerite Steele, both of Pelion; two sons, Matthew and Thomas, both of Pelion; two sisters, Jean Hansen and Margaret Quarantiello, both of Niagara Falls; 17 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren.
Services were today in Lane Funeral Home. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston.
