Helen E. Herrmann of College Station, Texas, a retired benefits coordinator, died unexpectedly Nov. 4 in Grimes St. Joseph Health Center in Navasota, Texas. She was 71.
The Buffalo native graduated from Kensington High School and took business courses at Buffalo State Teachers College.
For 38 years she was pensions and benefits coordinator at Howden Buffalo, retiring in 1995. She then moved to Texas to live with a sister.
She was a past noble grand and a past assembly marshal of the New York State Rebekkah Assembly, of which she was a member for 53 years.
She worked for the Odd Fellow and Rebekkah sight restoration program. In 1972, she received the Degree of Chivalry award from the state Rebekkah Assembly, and was the first woman to receive the Grand Master's Award from the New York State Odd Fellows.
Survivors include two brothers, Edward R. and Lawrence R., both of Buffalo; and two sisters, Lois Schalk of Buffalo and Esther Carrigan of College Station, Texas.
A memorial service will be held in Buffalo in July.
