FREE FOR ALL The No-Cost way to go

When the holiday budget is stretched thin, some free entertainment gives both you and your credit cards a much-needed break. At 7:30 p.m. today the Riviera Theatre presents a free screening of "Miracle on 34th Street." The theater is at 67 Webster St., North Tonawanda. Call 692-2413 or visit for more information. Over in the Town of Tonawanda, the Towne Players present their 18th annual Christmas Show at 7:30 p.m. next Friday. Bring a nonperishable food item to donate, then enjoy the show, which features song, dance and music. The event is in the Alexander Hamilton School Auditorium, 44 West Fall Drive, Town of Tonawanda.



Not 21? No problem

Hot moves on the dance floor will provide welcome relief from the cold air this weekend with some dances that might interest the younger crowd. Tonight's Maria Love Charity Ball, which requires advance tickets, kicks things off. Then at 6:30 p.m. Saturday there will be a Sock Hop at Temple Beth Am, 4660 Sheridan Drive, Williamsville. The event includes food, games, contests, music and more. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 18, and free for children under 5. Call 743-9057 for more information.



Go single -- or bring a friend

The singles scene is loaded with seasonal opportunities to meet someone new. Among this week's highlights is Jackie's Semi-Formal Christmas Dance from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m. Saturday in the Brounshidle Post, 3354 Delaware Ave., Town of Tonawanda. Come early for a free dance lesson at 7:30 p.m., then enjoy music by Toots Dintino with a buffet and door prizes. All this for $8. Call 691-8654 for more information.
