> Dine Out for the Cure
Western New Yorkers will get a chance to join the battle against breast cancer when they eat out at participating restaurants Oct. 11. That's when the local affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation will present Dine Out for the Cure.
Restaurants will donate a percentage of sales from a special Pink Menu for this occasion. At press time, participants included the Asa Ransom House, Billy Ogden's, Bing's, Buca di Beppo, Calvaneso's, Caffe Aroma, Daffodil's, Cafe Garangelo, Glen Park Tavern, Gramma Mora's, Jovi's Italian Grille and Bistro, Lombardo Ristorante, O Restaurant and Lounge, Pietro's Restaurant, Sonoma Grille and the Burgundy Room.
Additional restaurants will be listed at www.komenwny.org. Reservations are strongly suggested.
> Artisan bread
Panera Bread, which specializes in freshly baked bread and all-natural chicken, has opened its first location in Western New York. There are more than 700 Paneras nationwide.
The new bakery-cafe is located at 6730 S. Transit Road, Lockport, and is the first of three openings planned for the area this year.
Panera offers 16 varieties of bread daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as sandwiches, salads and soup.
