Melissa A. Weichelt of Depew, a registered nurse, died Sunday at home after a long illness. She was 41.
Born Melissa Ann Gorski in Cheektowaga, she was a graduate of Depew High School. Early in her working career, she was a lifeguard at the village pool and a guard at the ice rink.
Mrs. Weichelt earned a bachelor's degree from D'Youville College and a master's in nursing management from Canisius College.
She worked at Mary Agnes Manor, Erie County Medical Center and Buffalo General Hospital. She also worked as an occupational health supervisor for McAuley Seton Home Care.
Mrs. Weichelt, a certified CPR instructor, was a member of the decision-making team for the Depew Parent-Teacher Organization at Cayuga Elementary School.
Surviving are her husband, Christopher; two daughters, Lindsey and Angela; a son, Joshua; her parents, Ronald andDolores Gorski; and a brother, Anthony Gorski of Lancaster.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at 9:30 a.m. today in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 10 French Road, Depew.
