Club hears Laos escape account

Saki Mun Phomanachank will tell the story of his family's escape from Communist Laos at a luncheon at College Club of Buffalo at 12:30 p.m. Monday.

At a luncheon Oct. 10 at 12:30 p.m., Bruce Kershner, ecologist, naturalist and author of "The Secret Places of Western New York," will speak to the club about those places.

A membership tea and silent auction of theme baskets will be held at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 24 and a business meeting and luncheon will be held Oct. 31. Celeste Lawson, director of the Arts Council in Buffalo and Erie County, will speak about art and tourism at a dinner at 6 p.m. Oct. 26.

Breakfast by the Book group will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 to discuss "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon. Dorrine Ebel will be the facilitator.

A bridge luncheon is planned for 12:30 p.m. Oct. 17 and the creative writing group will meet at 10 a.m. Oct. 27.
