Marcia F. Jonas of Clarence, co-founder of a local company that manufactures automotive parts, died Tuesday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst, after a long illness. She was 69.
She was born Marcia Kaplan in Detroit, where she attended local schools and earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Wayne State University.
Mrs. Jonas moved to this area in 1975, when she and her husband, George, founded Stainless Steel Brakes Corp. in Clarence. She was serving as the company's chief financial officer at the time of her death.
Her husband of 42 years died in 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Lauren Fix of Clarence; a son, Michael of East Amherst; a sister, Barbara Segal of Jones Beach; two brothers, Marshall Kaplan of Bethesda, Md., and Alan Kaplan of Birmingham, Mich.; and five grandchildren.
A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Thursday in Perna-Pellegrino Funeral Home, 1671 Maple Road, Amherst. Inurnment will be in Pine Lawn Chapel and Columbarium of Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
