Julian Bystrzak, pressman, WWII veteran Dec. 20, 1920 -- Sept. 24, 2005

Julian T. Bystrzak, a retired pressman for Moore Business Forms and a veteran of World War II, died Saturday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Buffalo, after a brief illness. He was 84.

After graduating from Niagara Falls High School, he joined the Army in 1942, serving as an infantryman with the 82nd Airborne Division in Europe. He was a double recipient of the Purple Heart.

A resident of Niagara Falls, Mr. Bystrzak retired from Moore Business Forms in 1970 after 25 years of service.

He served as a special deputy with the Niagara County Sheriff's Department for 40 years and was a member of Portage Post 1465, American Legion.

His wife, Florence Szydlowski Bystrzak, died in June.

Surviving are a son, Carl of Niagara Falls; a stepbrother, Frank of the Town of Tonawanda; and a granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in Holy Trinity Catholic Church after prayers in Labuda Funeral Home. Burial was in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lewiston.
