Willie "Pete" Watson, an active Mason who worked as a security guard for General Motors' Powertrain Plant in the Town of Tonawanda, died Wednesday in Buffalo General Hospital after a brief illness. He was 68.
Born in Hollandale, Miss., Mr. Watson was a graduate of Seneca Vocational High School and studied electrical engineering at Buffalo State College.
An Army veteran with the rank of private first class, he retired from GM in 1995 after a career of about 30 years.
A 33rd-degree Mason, Mr. Watson served as master of Paramount Lodge 73, F&AM. He was a member of J.W. Loguen Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church
Survivors include a longtime companion, Daisey Robinson of Buffalo; two daughters, Toni Massey of Cheektowaga and Nicole Fagen of Warner Robin, Ga.; two sons, Walter T. of Buffalo and Darren of Kathleen, Ga.; two sisters, Alice Watson Atwood and Ruth Watson-Cosby, both of Buffalo; a brother, Walter Jr. of Buffalo; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, preceded by a wake at 10, in St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, 610 Eagle St. Burial will be in Acacia Park Cemetery, Pendleton.
