Ernest M. Jannotte, a longtime Dunlop Tire & Rubber Co. employee, died Saturday in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home, Lewiston, after a long illness. He was 92.
Born in Rouses Point, he was a longtime Grand Island resident, moving there in 1933.
Mr. Jannotte worked as a tire builder and in the stockroom at Dunlop for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Echo Club and Echo Singing Society, Grand Island Loyal Order of Moose, Our Lady of the Rosary Seniors, the Dunlop Retirement Club and the United Steelworkers. He volunteered many years for Portage Post, American Legion, which honored him for his dedication in 1993.
Mr. Jannotte also was a volunteer for many years at Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He enjoyed reading, fishing and pinochle.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, the former Mary Fital; a stepson, Ronald Koban of Niagara Falls; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, 339 22nd St., Niagara Falls. Prayers will be said at 9:45 in Labuda Funeral Home, 356 Portage Road, Niagara Falls. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Grand Island.
