Brandon J. Fowler, an aspiring rap musician, died Thursday in the Wesley Place apartment complex in Gwinnett County, Ga., of gunshot wounds. He was 22.
The Buffalo native grew up in the Masten District of Buffalo and attended City Honors High School. He later received his general equivalency degree.
Mr. Fowler enjoyed music and in 2002 moved to the Atlanta area to develop a career in rap by working in recording studios.
Survivors include his wife of one year, Shelly Williams of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a daughter, Brianna L.; his mother, Joyce Forbes of Garland, Texas; his father and stepmother, Irving L. and Victoria Fowler of Buffalo; two sisters, Natasha Fowler of Buffalo and Cherise Martini of North Tonawanda; six brothers, Julian Fowler of Sacramento, Calif., Jordan Williams of Amherst, Christian Forbes of Lawrenceville, Jayce Forbes of Tulsa, Okla., and Christopher Lane and Dion Smolinski, both of Buffalo; and a grandmother, Elouise Fowler.
A wake will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in New Mount Ararat Temple of Prayer, 983 Jefferson Ave., followed by a funeral at noon.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
