Betty Rose Keller, U.S. government worker Sept. 18, 1919 -- Sept. 23, 2005

Betty Rose Keller, a retired federal government employee and longtime resident of Clarence, died Friday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Cheektowaga following a short illness. She was 86.

Born Betty Lang in Buffalo, she attended Fosdick-Masten Park High School. During World War II, Mrs. Keller worked for a railroad company at the old Central Terminal. She later worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

She also worked for about 10 years as a claims representative with the Social Security Administration. She retired in 1980.

Mrs. Keller was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Our Lady of Peace Catholic parish in Clarence.

Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Thomas F.; a daughter, Mary Margaret Pawlewski of West Seneca; a sister, Margaret Lang of Cheektowaga; a granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.

Prayers will be offered at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 8440 Main St., Clarence, followed at 10 by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Peace Church, 10950 Main St., Clarence.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
