Board OKs $4,000 to repair Town Hall
The Holland Town Board this week appropriated up to $4,000 to repair damage to Town Hall from last Friday's heavy rains.
Supervisor Gordon Hessel Jr. said drains backed up and flooded the basement, saturating carpets and flooring and flooding various offices, including those of the zoning officer, the assessors and the state troopers.
The emergency appropriation will pay to fix the drainage system, particularly correcting the backflow around the basement. The supervisor said he had discussed the drainage problem with the town engineer for several years but never moved forward with a system upgrade.
Using the "emergency repair" designation, the town is not required to bid out the work. D&H Excavating will handle the repairs. Replacement of carpeting is not included in the $4,000 estimate.
