Meals on Wheels of Buffalo & Erie County will stage its second annual "Plate Expectations" fundraiser at 6 p.m. next Thursday in the Buffalo Transportation/Pierce Arrow Museum, 263 Michigan Ave.
The event will feature more than 100 items in silent and live auctions.
"It was a huge success last year," said Jay Hennig, event chairman and member of the Meals on Wheels board of trustees. "With the current financial situation the organization is facing, we hope it is a success once again."
Meals on Wheels was among many organizations who received news earlier this year that its county funding would be cut, and the organization lost nearly twothirds of its yearly operating budget.
Hennig hopes to increase attendance at this year's fund-raising event from last year's 400 to 600 attendees.
Now in its 35th year, Meals on Wheels nourishes more than 1,600 people daily and serves nearly one million meals per year through the efforts of its dedicated volunteer teams.
Tickets for "Plate Expectations" are $50 per person, and can be purchased by calling 842-5237. For more information, visit www.mowfdnwny.org.
