A Salamanca woman who had been driving while intoxicated was fined a total of $3,500 and sentenced to five years of probation Monday in Cattaraugus County Court.
Lizabeth John, 26, of Summit Street, was sentenced by Judge Larry M. Himelein on her conviction for driving while intoxicated and without a license. She was arrested April 10, 2004, in the City of Salamanca.
District Attorney Edward M. Sharkey said John's sentence includes 200 hours of community service and a $2,500 fine for driving while intoxicated and three years' probation and a $500 fine each for driving without a license and resisting arrest.
In another case, Christian M. Tighe, 26, of Ellicottville, was sentenced to five years of probation, including 200 hours of community service, and fined $3,000 for his guilty plea to driving while intoxicated, Feb. 27, 2004, in the Village of Ellicottville.
David R. French, 39, of Buffalo, was fined $2,500, sentenced to five years' probation and ordered to perform 200 hours of community service upon his conviction for driving while intoxicated on Jan. 12 in Yorkshire.
Sharkey said several people pleaded guilty in other cases and face sentencing in November.
Mark A. Harmon, 39, of Gowanda, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated on June 17 in Persia.
Kathryn V. Zawatski, 17, of Olean, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree forgery April 2 in the Town of Allegany.
Shariff K. James, 29, of Olean, pleaded guilty to third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance (crack cocaine) on Nov. 19, 2004, in the City of Olean.
David H. Neuman, 39, of West Valley, pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated Dec. 23, 2004, in Ashford.
Sally A. Shaffer, 50, of Allegany, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny. The crime occurred between August 2003 and March 2005 in the Town of Allegany. Property valued at more than $1,000 was stolen.
