Thomas J. Comello Jr. of Dunkirk died Wednesday in his home. He was 81.
Born in Fredonia, he was a 1942 graduate of Dunkirk High School. He was a World War II veteran, earning the Purple Heart and New York State's Conspicuous Service Cross for his service as a member of the 1st Marine Division on Okinawa.
He retired from True Temper tool company in 1986.
Mr. Comello was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, First Ward Falcons and the Moniuszko Club. He enjoyed bowling, golf and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Beverly Rhinehart; two sons, Thomas J. III and Dean, both of Michigan; two daughters, Tracy Ossman of Dunkirk and Geri Wutz of Clarence; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Willowbrook Park Cemetery, Dunkirk.
