The Erie County Department of Senior Services is offering a six-week "Powerful Tools for Caregivers" program from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Thursdays from Sept. 22 to Oct. 27 in South Buffalo Community Association, 35 Cazenovia St. Caregivers will learn how to reduce stress, improve self-confidence, locate helpful resources and balance their lives while taking care of a physically or mentally impaired relative or friend. Cost is $25, but there is no charge for members of Blue Cross Blue Shield, Independent Health and Univera. Registration is required by Tuesday; call 858-2177 or e-mail: caregiver@erie.gov.

The Western New York Independent Living Project is offering a training session to promote the Americans with Disabilities Act for employment for individuals with disabilities from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in Independent Living Project, 3108 Main St. Cost is $20. Cradle Beach Camp, 8038 Old Lakeshore Road, Angola, has openings for its Weekend Respite Program, Friday through next Sunday, for those with disabilities from age 12. Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center will hold its annual Ride, Walk 'n' Roll-A-Thon at 10 a.m. Saturday, registration beginning at 9:30 a.m., at Knox Farm State Park, Route 16, East Aurora. Participants walk or ride on a 1K or 2K trail through the park and other activities include face painting, games and more. There is a $25 minimum sponsor pledge to enter. The Independence Foundation is sponsoring Flaming Dragons Power Wheelchair Soccer game from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in the Elma Boys & Girls Club, 2080 Girdle Road, Elma. Individuals with disabilities that can safely maneuver a power wheelchair and want to play soccer, call 685-3976 for information.

Technology Related Assistance for Individuals with Disabilities Project provides statewide coordination of assistive technology activities for people with disabilities, fosters development of state and federal policies, and provides information, referral, training and technical assistance, and advocacy on how to access and use assistive technology devices and services.
