Bill Hilts Jr. and Jim Hanley are looking for a few good fisher folk.
Hilts and Hanley have begun a layout for an updated Greater Niagara Hot Spot Fishing Map, an Erie and Niagara County fishing guide that highlights good spots around the area.
Charter captains, tackle dealers, marina operators, and all involved with fishing-related activities in both counties can be included in this new guide.

Niagara Frontier State Park Region holds its annual permit lottery Oct. 7 for hunting Golden Hill, Joseph Davis and Wilson-Tuscarora State Parks opening day (Oct. 15) and Oct. 22. Mail a standard-sized post card to: NFSP, P.O. Box 1132, Niagara Falls, NY 14303-0132. It must include a name, address, phone number, back-tag hunting license number, date(s) desired and order of preference.

The Department of Environmental Conservation offers seminars on the progress and handling of chronic wasting disease in New York State. Meetings held in this area will be at Niagara County Cooperative Extension 4-H Center on Route 78 in Lockport at 7 p.m. Monday; Cuba-Rushford High School a mile north of Exit 28 of I-86 at 7 p.m. Wednesday; and at Jamestown Community College Carnahan Building at 7 p.m. Sept. 28.
