Elinor L. Wratny, retired Gowanda librarian Feb. 17, 1930 -- Sept. 16, 2005

Elinor L. Wratny, a retired librarian, died Friday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care in Cheektowaga. She was 75.

Born Elinor Miller in Covington, she served as library director of the Gowanda Free Library from 1956 to 1966 and of the Aldrich Street Elementary School Library from 1967 to 1987.

Mrs. Wratny was an active member of Gowanda Business and Professional Women Association and a volunteer for the Gowanda Lions Club. She also was a member of the Gowanda Country Club and the Lake Wales Country Club in Lake Wales, Fla.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Frank J. Jr.; two daughters, Gail Feathers of Piffard and Karen Olsowsky of Leicester; a son, Stephen of Clarence; and six grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main Street and Erie Avenue. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Batavia.
