Starting Monday, both locations of the Pizza Plant -- 8020 Transit Road, Amherst, and 5110 Main St., Williamsville -- will run a weeklong tasting to benefit the victims of Katrina.
Owner Bob Syracuse says that for $20 per person, guests will receive samples of the following wines: Le Faux Frog Chardonnay, Mirassou Pinot Noir, Wagner semi-dry Reisling, Fat Bastard Shiraz and Blackstone Syrah.
> Flavors of Buffalo
The American Liver Foundation is presenting its second annual Flavors of Buffalo fund-raiser at which premier chefs present a five-course meal to a table of 10 guests. The event will be held Monday at the Adams Mark Hotel, and each chef will design his own creative menu.
Participating restaurants include: Orchard Park Country Club chef Kevin Robertson, Park Lane chef Beverley Garraway, Old Orchard Inn chef Jeremy Grzybowski, O chef 2-2, Audubon Room chef Mark Camalleri, Vue chef Adam Alt and Decor chef Rob McGreevy.

> Wine, microbrew tasting
Next Friday, the Cheektowaga Chamber of Commerce will host its fifth annual Wine and Microbrew Tasting in the Millennium Airport Hotel, 2040 Walden Ave. On the menu: malted Scotches, aged Cognacs, wine and beer from around the world and food from Buca di Beppo, Rosina Food Products and Hanzilan Sausages.
