STILL COOKIN' is Nora O'Connell Dwyer of Williamsville, native of County Cork, Ireland, who turned 100 on Wednesday. She arrived by ship in Boston, Mass., in 1928 at the age of 23 and took a job as a domestic and later at Coca-Cola until she met her husband, Joseph Dwyer, in 1933.

They were married in 1935 and became the proud parents of Joan Laline of Williamsville and John Dwyer of Walpole, Mass.

The couple opened the Silhouette Restaurant in Newton, Mass., in 1946, where Mrs. Dwyer cooked daily specials such as chicken pot pie, shepherd's pie or corned beef and cabbage.
Her husband died in 1975 and Mrs. Dwyer closed the restaurant in 1980 and moved to Williamsville with her daughter Joan and son-in-law, James Laline.

She has seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She's still cooking her specials, and is still a "looker" after all these years, her daughter said. . . .

TELESCOPE TIME -- Five telescopes will be available to view the planets and constellations beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center in Hamburg. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own telescopes.

Telescopes, with filters, will be available to view sunspots and solar flares prior to sunset. Jupiter and Venus can be seen low in the west at dusk and a harvest moon can be seen rising in the east around 8. Hamburg Natural History Society members get in free; fee for others is $2 per person.
