Teen bands Fat Apple of North Collins, Minkus of Lancaster and Pyrolixious of Kenmore West will perform tonight at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery when The Buffalo News NeXt section celebrates its 10th birthday at tonight's Gusto at the Gallery program. It's free!
The bands were winners of the first teen battle of the bands co-sponsored this summer by NeXt and Robby Takac's Music Is Art foundation.
NeXt readers and correspondents past, present and future are invited, along with the general public to the party from 5 to 10 p.m. tonight. The workshops are intended for those 11 and up.
5 to 9 p.m.: Art activity for all ages.
5:30 p.m.: News photographer Mark Mulville talks about photojournalism.
6 p.m.: A book talk about favorite books, including "Harry Potter" and NeXt Book Club titles. (Kids 11 and up.)
6:45 p.m.: Pyrolixious of Kenmore West plays in the auditorium.
7 p.m.: Cutting of the birthday cake.
7 p.m.: A tour of the "Extreme Abstraction" exhibit.
7:30 p.m.: Workshop on writing a concert review.
8 p.m.: Fat Apple plays.
8:45 p.m.: Mock press conference with the band.
9:15 p.m. Minkus plays.
