New trout pond opens at Griswold Road resort

STAFFORD -- A reception this week formally opened a new trout pond at Godfrey's Pond, a 235-acre natural resort owned by the Genesee County Fish and Game Protective Association on Griswold Road, Town of Stafford.

On hand for the reception were officials of the Bank of Castile, which provided financing for the second lake on the property.

Two regional projects receive federal grants

BATAVIA -- The city's successful micro-enterprise program that provides start-up costs for small businesses has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the U.S. Housing and Urban Development's small cities program.

Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, R-Clarence, said Thursday the funds could help as many as 20 small businesses and create up to 60 jobs in the downtown and Ellicott Square areas.

Reynolds also announced a grant of $399,725 for the Town of Alabama to reduce flooding affecting 154 residents.
