Services for Elisha Owens, of Cheektowaga, were held today in United Memorial Funeral Home. Burial was in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
Mr. Owens, a retired steelworker, died Tuesday in Veterans Affairs Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
Born in Rosemont, W.Va., he was an Army veteran of World War II. He moved to this area after the war and worked for 37 years at Bethlehem Steel's coke oven, retiring in 1990s.
His wife, Betty Temmon Owens, died in the 1990s.
Surviving are two sons, Wallace of Buffalo and Stanley of Florida; a brother, Scottie of
Brentwood; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
