A Mass of Christian Burial for Jocelyn M. Ellis, a teacher, will be offered at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church, 950 Losson Road, Cheektowaga, after prayers at 9 in Urban-Amigone Funeral Home, 1024 French Road, Cheektowaga.
She died Sunday in an accidental drowning at her condominium complex in Glendale, Ariz., where she had lived for the past 2 1/2 months. She was 34.
Born Jocelyn Jankowski in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Villa Maria Academy and Niagara University. After working as a clerk in several retail stores, she earned her teaching certificate at Daemen College in 2003.
She had been a substitute elementary grade teacher in Amherst and Williamsville schools before moving to Arizona, where she had just started teaching in the Glendale elementary schools.
Mrs. Ellis enjoyed hiking and white-water rafting and was a member of St. Philip the Apostle Church.
Surviving are her husband of three years, Justin A.; her parents, Catherine and Michael Jankowski, and a brother, Brian Jankowski, all of Cheektowaga; and three grandparents, Helen and Robert Przybysz of Buffalo and Josephine Jankowski of Cheektowaga.
