Veterans Administration Western New York Healthcare System will hold a "Prisoner of War/Missing in Action National Recognition Day Ceremony" at 9 a.m. Friday in Hearthstone Manor, featuring Patrick W. Welch, president and of Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter #77.

Niagara Sailing Club will honor Commodore Jeffrey Cooke and his wife, Mary, at the Commodore's Ball Saturday in the clubhouse, starting with cocktails at 6 p.m. A flag ceremony will be held at 7; dinner and dancing will be at 7:30. Raymond and Laure Dan-Jumbo, Anthony and Lori Albano and Greg and Cheryl Chamberlain are chairmen.

A collection of nonperishable food for victims of Hurricane Katrina will be taken when officers and board members of Variety Club Women of Tent 7 meet at a noon luncheon Saturday in Ilio DiPaolo's Restaurant.

Buffalo City Council of Beta Sigma Phi will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Harlem Road Community Center to discuss plans for the coming season. Xi Beta Mu Chapter members will be dessert hostesses.

Priscilla M. Isaac will give a program, "Conducting a Genealogical Workshop at Your Library," for Williams Mills Chapter of National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Beechwood Residence, Getzville. Lisa Wolfe is hostess.

Zonta Club of Kenmore will have a program meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Classics Banquet & Conference Center. Members will collect money for the Red Cross disaster relief in Louisiana and Mississippi.

Jennifer Rivier will give a program on stress relief at the fall luncheon and meeting of Women's Board of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital at 11 a.m. next Thursday in Sonoma Grille, Snyder. Plans for the board's major fund-raiser, "Masquerade," a luncheon, fashion show and auction Oct. 15 in Buffalo Niagara Marriott, will be finalized.

Seton Guild of Buffalo, Sheehan Memorial Hospital, will have a membership party from noon to 3 p.m. today at the home of Mary Helen Burke in Rose Hill, Ont. Marge McMahon and Beth McMahon are chairwomen. The guild will have a bridge luncheon Oct. 4 in the Twentieth Century Club, starting at 10:30.m. Patricia Wischerath is chairwoman.
