Services for Marion A. Hill, former wife of jazz violinist Hezekiah "Stuff" Smith, were held Monday in Buffalo Memorial Chapel. Burial was in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
Mrs. Hill died last Wednesday in the Erie County Home & Infirmary, Alden. She was 95 and had been a resident at the home since 1991.
Born Marion A. Harris in Buffalo, she met Smith shortly after he arrived in Buffalo in the late 1920s, and they married in 1928. They moved to New York City in the mid-1930s and were divorced in 1940. She then married Rafield Hill. He died in 1988.
A longtime resident of New York City, Mrs. Hill was a sales clerk in Gimbel's department store on Herald Square. Her only son, Leroy J. "Jack" Smith, died in 1986. She returned to Buffalo in 1990.
Surviving are a grandson, a granddaughter and and a great-granddaughter.
