UB wins in soccer

The University at Buffalo men's soccer team allowed only two shots on goal during a 3-0 win over Siena on Sunday. It was the Bulls' second shutout of the season and fourth win in a row. Erik Jaanimagi, Lee Catchpole and Shyle Braithwaite scored for UB, all in the second half. . . . Buffalo State closed out the Bethany Invitational beating Gallaudet, 6-3, in the consolation. Joshua Mitchell had two goals, including the eventual game-winner. . . . Binghamton beat St. Bonaventure, 1-0, to win the St. Bonaventure Invitational.

WOMEN'S SOCCER: St. Bonaventure lost, 2-0, to Northern Arizona in its final game of the Northern Arizona High Altitude Tournament. . . . Buffalo State (4-0-1) played to a 1-1 tie with Marietta, but eventually lost on penalty kicks in the championship game of the Penn State Altoona Tournament. . . . Natalia Crofut (East Aurora) scored for UB in a 2-1 loss to Cornell. . . . Kerri Clarkson (Springville) had three goals as Medaille (5-0) beat Mt. St. Mary's, 4-0.

MEN'S TENNIS: St. Bonaventure's Jonathan Luce (Maple Grove) won a pair of matches to finish undefeated in the St. Bonaventure Fall Classic. Also in the Classic, UB singles players Matt Kennedy and Mike Rockman and its doubles team of Yules Hadisubroto and Nikesh Singh finished with 3-0 records. Niagara registered eight wins in 10 matches.

WOMEN'S TENNIS: UB's Andreea Novaceanu rolled to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Tamara John of Cornell to claim the A Singles title at the Cornell Invitational.

GOLF: St. Bonaventure finished tied for fifth of 15 teams at the Navy Fall Invitational. Andy Whalen and Josh Anderson led the Bonnies at 149, good for 18th place. . . . Niagara finished sixth at the Colgate Invitational at the Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton. Chris Agostinelli finished at 150 for 10th place.
