Margaret A. Metz of Cheektowaga, a retired businesswoman, died Sunday in the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Cheektowaga, after a long illness. She was 81.
A native of Germany, the former Margaret Giehrl came to the United States at age 3 and had been a Buffalo-area resident since then.
She attended local schools, including St. Joseph Academy in Buffalo. She was vice president of Insty Prints of Buffalo for 21 years, retiring in 1990.
An active member of Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Cheektowaga, Mrs. Metz served as a Eucharistic minister and was a member of the church's Altar and Rosary Society and Spiritual Life and Environmental committees. She was honored for her involvement in the church with the St. Joseph the Worker Award.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Horace J.; a daughter, Patricia of Depew; four sons, Ronald of Batavia, James of Williamsville, David of Buffalo and Thomas of Corfu; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in Amigone Funeral Home, 569 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Infant of Prague Church, 921 Cleveland Drive, Cheektowaga. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cheektowaga.
