Delta Queen Steamboat Co., the New Orleans-based paddle-wheel steamboat operation owned by Buffalo's Delaware North Cos., has canceled trips by one of its three boats until March 2006.
The American Queen won't be able to make scheduled cruises due to the devastation in the New Orleans area caused by Hurricane Katrina, said Bruce Nierenberg, Delta Queen's president.
None of Delta Queen's three boats was affected by the storm: They were away on scheduled trips when Katrina struck. They travel the Mississippi River and its tributaries.
Refunds are being given to passengers on the canceled trips. The company is also making the American Queen available for relief efforts in New Orleans.
Online itineraries for the other two steamboats indicate they are not scheduled to visit New Orleans until November.
