Thaddeus M. Czechowski, a former field planner for Niagara Mohawk Power Corp., died Tuesday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a short illness. He was 76.
Mr. Czechowski was born in Niagara Falls and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. He later earned a degree from Erie Community College.
He served stateside in the Army during the early 1950s.
He worked for Niagara Mohawk for more than 35 years, retiring in 1988. He was a volunteer driver for the Lewiston Senior Citizens for the past 13 years.
Mr. Czechowski was head usher, a trustee and a parish council member at St. Peter's Catholic Church.
He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, the former Geraldine M. Congelosi; a son, Brian S. of Spartanburg, S.C.; three daughters, Lisa M. Glanz of Orlando, Fla., and Jill M. Loge and Dina M. Potenza of Lewiston; a sister, Stella B. Skowronski of Niagara Falls; and nine grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Peter's Catholic Church, 620 Center St., preceded by prayers at 9:30 in Rhoney Funeral Home, Cayuga and South Ninth streets. Entombment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
