Outokumpu Copper has new CEO

The board of Outokumpu Copper, which operates a 600-job plant in Buffalo, has picked a cell phone executive to head the metals company.

John Peter Leesi will take the job of president and chief executive of Outokumpu Copper Products on Oct. 1, the company said in a statement. Leesi is chief financial officer of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, a joint venture. He previously held a number of executive positions within Ericsson Group, the Swedish mobile phone company.

Leesi will replace Finn Johnsson, chairman of Outokumpu, who served as interim chief executive. Nordic Capital, a Swedish investment group, acquired Outokumpu and its American Brass plant in Buffalo in June.
