Look out for St. Francis in boys soccer.
The Red Raiders are off to an extremely impressive start after beating Williamsville North, 2-1, in the championship game of the Lockport Tournament. Chris Grizanti scored on a breakaway with 52 seconds left as St. Francis completed a come-from-behind victory.
Chris DeCesare's penalty kick with 10 minutes left tied the game. Earlier in the second half, Lucas Barnes had given a 1-0 lead to North, last year's ECIC I champion.
Nichols won the Clarence Tournament behind the first career shutout for junior Rick Pierce. Pierce, a junior who played junior varsity last year, backstopped Nichols' 1-0 win over Clarence.
* Ryan O'Donnell scored two goals to give Orchard Park a 4-2 win over Tonawanda in the championship game of the Dan Durick Tournament at Tonawanda. O'Donnell was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
* Alex Razzolini scored twice for Iroquois in a 2-2 tie with Canisius at the East Aurora Tournament. Andy Taulbee and Anthony Domenico scored for Canisius. . . . Dan Schichtel had a hat trick as Eden blew out defending Class D champion North Collins, 9-0. . . . St. Joe's moved to 4-1 on the season with a 2-0 shutout of defending Section VI Class AA champion Sweet Home. Tim Huebsch scored 20 minutes into the first half on an assist from Todd Piowtroski while Matt Contino scored with 12 minutes to play off a David Thoin pass. . . . Gary Cummings and Andy Drescher each scored and Bill Eberhardt earned the shutout as Lancaster won its own tournament beating Amherst, 2-0.

In girls soccer, Lancaster won its own tournament with a 4-1 shootout win after playing Kenmore West to a 2-2 tie. Krystal Pollack, Katherine Boughton, Brittany Heist and Jessica Rogers scored for Lancaster while West hit a post and shot two wide against Redskins goalie Ashley Blatner.
* Outscoring their opponents by 21-1 over four games, East Aurora won its own tournament. East Aurora took the championship game, 3-0, over Frontier with two goals by Sarah Tarantino and one by Kathy Borowski.
> Eden defends volleyball title
Riding the MVP performance of Jake Waszak, Eden beat Orchard Park in three games to defend its title at the 19th annual Clarence Tournament. Tom Klein had 16 kills while J.J. Meyer added 10 for the Raiders. Waszak added 38 assists and two aces. In the Ken-Ton Tournament involving four teams, host Kenmore East beat Kenmore West in the final, 25-13, 25-13. Eric Buggs of the Bulldogs earned MVP.

Race winner Mike Dobmeier led five Williamsville North runners in the top 19 as the Spartans took the large school title at the Byron-Bergen Invitational. Dobmeier, fourth in the state meet last year, won the race in 16:40. East Aurora won the girls large school race as Catherin Luscardi, (19:00), Sarah Mosser and Carly Kramer of the Blue Devils finished 1-2-3. It was the fifth straight year East Aurora has won the team title.
