Johnson, a Buffalo native, is the author of three collections of prose poems, including "Miracles & Mortifications" (White Pine Press) which received the James Laughlin Award of the Academy of American Poets in 2001, and "I'm a Man" (2003), a collection of short stories. He lives in Rhode Island and teaches at Providence College. Machlin is the founder and editor of Futurepoem books, a New York City based publishing collective and curator of the Segue Readings Series at the Bowery Poetry Club.
