Representatives from the National Park Service will make a presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday in City Hall, One Locks Plaza, about the preservation and management plan crafted by a federal commission whose assignment is to promote the Erie Canal.
The Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor Commission last year chose Lockport and Little Falls as its demonstration communities.
A preservation workshop was held here earlier this year.
City officials hope the demonstration project designation will help clear the way for federal funds to restore the 19th century canal locks, the "Flight of Five," to working condition.
Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, R-Clarence, inserted $3.25 million for the project into a transportation funding bill now before Congress.
