A new gourmet burger restaurant chain is looking to open two to three locations in the Buffalo area starting next year.
Red Robin Gourmet Burgers, which has 265 restaurants in 31 states, plans to open its first location in Amherst. The corporation, based in Greenwood Village, Colo., would own the restaurants.
Red Robin already has franchised locations in Albany and has broken ground on a company-owned location in the Rochester market that will open later this year, said spokeswoman Kim McBee.
"Our concept has been so successful in some of the other markets that we felt Buffalo would be a great place for a gourmet burger place," she said.
In addition to its 22 variations on the classic American burger, Red Robin restaurants have full-service bars, bottomless steak fries, shakes and smoothies. The average ticket per person is $10.
