Margaret J. Caughell, a former bank clerk who was active in church and Masonic affairs, died Thursday in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home after a long illness. She was 81.
Mrs. Caughell was born Margaret Burke in Niagara Falls and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. She lived in the city until moving to Lewiston in 1976.
Mrs. Caughell worked as a clerk in the credit department of Marine Midland Bank's Power City branch for 15 years in the 1960s and 1970s.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Niagara Falls, where she was a former trustee and deacon.
Mrs. Caughell was a past matron of Chapter 658, Order of the Eastern Star.
Her husband of 57 years, Gerald H., died in 2003.
Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Hodgins of Lewiston; two sons, Gerald of Wheatfield and Randy of the Town of Tonawanda; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church, 311 Rainbow Blvd., Niagara Falls. Burial will be in Riverdale Cemetery.
