Tenor Robert Strauss grew up in Kenmore, earned a degree in vocal performance from Fredonia State College and went on to teach voice at a variety of colleges up and down the East Coast. Recently, he ended what he calls his "self-exile," and we're fortunate to have him back in the neighborhood. Strauss now is on the voice faculty at Rochester's Nazareth College and is also the choir director at Trinity Episcopal Church and at Nardin Academy.

At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Strauss will present a recital of songs and arias in Italian. His program includes the music of Haydn, Benjamin Britten and the romantic Italian melodist Francesco Paolo Tosti, as well as the bel canto creations of Bellini and Donizetti. Joining him is pianist Benton Hess, who is on the faculty of the Eastman School of Music.

The recital takes place at Trinity Episcopal Church, 371 Delaware Ave. Admission is by free-will offering.
