James R. Zlotek of Cheektowaga, a tool-and-die maker, died Wednesday under hospice care in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga, after a struggle with cancer. He was 57.
Born in Buffalo, he was a 1965 graduate of Seneca Vocational High School and earned an associate's degree from Erie Community College. He served in the National Guard from 1968 to 1974.
Mr. Zlotek worked for American Axle as a tool-and-die maker from 1965 until last December.
He loved to travel and took cruises to Hawaii and Alaska and throughout the Caribbean. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church.
He and his wife, the former Susan Gajewski, would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary May 9.
Survivors also include a son, Craig of Depew; two daughters, Laura and Leanne, both of Cheektowaga; three brothers, Adam Jr. "Sonny" of Derby, Edward of Depew and Thomas of Buffalo; a sister, Christine Dudziak of Lancaster; and a grandson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Barnabas Church, 2049 George Urban Blvd., Depew, after prayers at 11:45 a.m. in Orlowski-Pietszak Funeral Home, 2400 William St., Cheektowaga. Burial will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Lancaster.
