Erie Community College stole home twice to put the final touches on a doubleheader sweep of Niagara County CC, 1-0 and 7-4 in nine innings. A sacrifice fly by Mike Rosenberry (Clarence) in the sixth scored Chris Wood with the winning run in the opener. Mike Ziewicki (Maryvale) pitched a one-hitter, striking out nine. The Kats (24-9, 15-0) got a pair of RBIs from Mark Houck in the nightcap to make a winner of starter Brian Alterio (Niagara Falls).

MEN'S TENNIS: The University at Buffalo opened the Mid-American Conference Tournament with a 4-0 win over Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne. Nick Zieziula (St. Francis), Mike Rockman and Josh Liederman took singles points for the Bulls, while Zieziula and Yules Hadisubroto combined at first doubles. The third-seeded Bulls (9-8) face second-seeded Western Michigan in today's semifinals.

SOFTBALL: Buffalo State shut out Fredonia, 1-0 and 3-0, to secure a postseason bid. Pitchers Kristen Scheffold (Lancaster) and Nicole Sabuda (Orchard Park) earned the shutouts. Nadine Sirianni (Niagara Falls) drove in Laurie Hutten (Kenmore West) for the only run of the opener. . . . Amber Wilson had two hits and Dawn Grobe drove in two runs as Erie CC (3-9) beat Alfred in the opener, 4-1, before dropping the nightcap, 16-1. Natalie Reif (Buffalo Arts) got the win.
