SERVICE SATURDAY TO MARK END OF VIETNAM WAR

A service remembering the 30-year anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Vietnam Veterans Monument in Buffalo & Erie County Naval and Military Park.

Patrick W. Welch, president of Chapter 77, Vietnam Veterans of America, which is sponsoring the service, said he and other local veterans group leaders will emphasize the proposed Veterans Affairs budget failing to meet the needs of veterans, including those returned and returning from wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The event will conclude with a solemn ceremony honoring those who died in the war. The Vietnam War is considered the nation's longest and, other than the Civil War, the most divisive.
