Johnnie May Gross of Buffalo, a retired factory worker, died Saturday in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. She was 64.
Born Johnnie May Copeland in Shiloh, Ga., she graduated from high school in Georgia and came to Buffalo in 1961. She worked at Farmer Brown Vegetable Packing and Markel Electric and retired from Niagara Straw about nine years ago.
A member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, she was a member of the usher board.
Mrs. Gross also provided care for an ailing sister and her nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her husband of 31 years, Willie Frank; four sisters, Mary L. McCoy of Buffalo and Minnie Ferguson, Annie Smith and Shirlene Kelly, all of Cleveland; and a brother, Charlie Copeland of Atlanta.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olive Baptist Church, 701 E. Delavan Ave., after viewing at 10. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Cemetery, West Seneca.
