Theodore S. Gajewski of Lancaster, a retired steelworker, died unexpectedly Saturday in St. Joseph Hospital, Cheektowaga. He was 83.
Born in Buffalo, he was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater. He worked 30 years as a millwright at Bethlehem Steel Corp., retiring in the early 1980s.
Mr. Gajewski was a member of St. Gabriel's Seniors Club and the Twin District Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed deer hunting and gardening.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, the former Jean Lusiak of Lancaster; a daughter, Elaine Pokrywczynski of Lancaster; two sons, James Bak of Las Vegas and Gary of Bentleyville, Ohio; two brothers, Edward of Cheektowaga and Henry of Lancaster; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, 5271 Clinton St., Elma, after prayers at 8:45 in Paul A. Kloc Blossom Chapels, 4680 Clinton St., West Seneca. Burial will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Lancaster.
