The Olean City School Board will meet at 7:30 p.m. today to vote on the YMCA's contract bid to provide swimming pool lifeguard services at $15 per hour and pool maintenance or mechanical assistance at $25 per hour.
If accepted, the one-year contract will begin July 1 and automatically renew each year unless it is canceled or notification is given by April 1 of each year. Superintendent Mark J. Ward is recommending the board reject the sole contract bid received for operation of the Middle School pool facility.
The district has paid the YMCA about $72,000 for pool lifeguards and operations since its construction but recently estimated an $87,000 price tag for in-house management.
In other agenda items, the board will consider creating seven custodian and grounds positions and will vote on the 2005-06 Board of Cooperative Educational Services administrative budget and cast ballots for four BOCES board candidates.
